Welcome to The Old Dairy in Skebokvarn – a charming hostel with 11 beds, housed in a brick building dating back to 1923. Here, you’ll find simple and cosy accommodation in an environment full of character and history. The building’s labyrinth-like corridors and homely rooms carry traces of a bygone era, situated in a small community shaped by the railway, the river, and the surrounding landscape.

On the ground floor, you can buy ice cream and cold drinks, and right outside the door, new adventures await. Our canoe centre is also located here, offering rentals of kayaks and Canadian canoes, giving you direct access to the scenic Lake Båven – one of Sörmland’s most distinctive lakes, with winding bays, narrow straits, and over 500 km of shoreline to explore.

Whether you want to head out on the water, hike the surroundings, or simply relax in peace, our hostel is a place where you can feel at home.

The Old Dairy offers four charming rooms with a total of 11 beds. The rooms are simply and comfortably furnished – most have been recently renovated while retaining their unique shape and character from the building’s origins. There is space for both small and larger groups, with rooms for 2, 3 or 7 people. If you’re traveling alone, you can easily book a private room.

All rooms are located on the second or third floor with close access to kitchen, shower, toilet, and TV lounge – shared with other guests. Bedding and towels can be rented on site, and for families with small children, a crib is available to borrow. Dogs are welcome in one of the rooms for an additional fee. Please note that all rooms are one flight up without an elevator and are therefore not wheelchair accessible.

Outside the house, a lush garden awaits where you can sit down with your morning coffee or barbecue on the shared grill. When the weather changes, there’s plenty of space under the porch roof at the canoe centre. Just around the corner, several beautiful walking trails begin – along the old railway embankment towards Malmköping or along the country road into Helgesta.
