Svanö Tour – Day Trip for All Ages

The tour begins at our own jetty in Skebokvarn and takes you through winding river channels, past swimming spots and nature reserves, and out into the majestic Lake Båven. Natån Tour – A Peaceful Day in Rhythm with the Water

This is the tour for those who want to take a break from everyday life – just for a day, yet still feel like they've been far away. You'll paddle from Stjärnhov, across Lake Naten and into Natån – a winding, peaceful river that meanders south through the landscape.

Here, the water is clear and slow-moving, and with a bit of luck, small fish will swim alongside your canoe. It's a place where paddling is unhurried – where branches hang low over the water and the stillness is almost tangible.

As you reach the other side, Lake Båven opens up – a wilderness lake rich in birdlife and with plenty of space to stretch out. Here you can stop for lunch, take a swim, or simply let the canoe drift for a while.

If you want to make more of your day, you can explore bays and small islands – or even pitch a tent in the Hornafjärden or Dagnäsön nature reserves. But most paddlers choose to head back to Stjärnhov when the day feels complete. A short but atmospheric day tour that offers peace, quiet and new energy.

Paddle across Wilderness Lake Båven:
1 to 10 days

The Båven Tour is for those who want the freedom to explore the wilderness at their own pace. The tour starts at our jetty in Skebokvarn and takes you through Skebokvarnsån, past the swimming spot at Lake Kvarnsjön, and on through the winding Dragsnäsån. Already here, there’s a chance to spot beavers and birds – but it’s when you glide out into the mighty Lake Båven that the real adventure begins.

Båven has over 500 km of shoreline, and it’s said there’s an island for every day of the year. You choose where to paddle – and where to set up camp for the night. Thanks to the Right of Public Access, it’s easy to find beautiful campsites on islands and headlands, and you decide how long you want to stay out. No portages needed and no canoe trolley required – just enjoy the stillness and the wilderness.

Want to combine nature with a stop in civilisation? There are several options:
• After about two days of paddling (25 km), you’ll reach Sparreholm, where you can refill water, throw away trash or buy an ice cream at the kiosk.
• If you paddle east into the clear, winding Natån river, you may spot fish swimming along your canoe.
• Continue north to Stjärnhov and you’ll reach the ICA store after about 2.5–3 days (35 km).

Fishing is also possible in parts of the lake – a fishing permit is required and can be purchased from us at the Canoe Centre. Zander, pike and perch are commonly caught here. When it’s time to end your tour, paddle back to the Canoe Centre – perhaps with a final swim at the beach in Lake Kvarnsjön before gliding into Skebokvarnsån and returning to the jetty.

Paddle from Sparreholm to Skebokvarn: 2 days

The tour starts at the launch site in Sparreholm, where you glide out into the calm waters of Lake Båven. From the very beginning, you’ll experience the unique wilderness feel Båven offers – with small islands, sheltered bays and open waters.

Soon you’ll pass the majestic Rockelsta Castle and continue past Aspön Nature Reserve. There are plenty of great spots here for a lunch break and maybe a swim. You’ll then paddle on towards the Båven Islands Nature Reserve, where you’ll have good chances to find a quiet, nature-rich island to set up your tent.

On day two, you paddle through Flaksundet and further into western Båven. Along the way, you get a beautiful view of Helgesta Church on Ådö. Here, you can choose to take the route inside or outside the island before paddling into the winding Dragsnäsån. The tour ends through the narrow Lake Kvarnsjön and Skebokvarnsån, leading you all the way back to the Canoe Centre’s jetty in Skebokvarn.

The tour is approx. 25 km long and perfect for those wanting peace, tent camping, and beautiful nature – with no portages or rapids. As the tour starts in Sparreholm, a transport fee applies for canoe and equipment.*

Paddle from Stjärnhov to Skebokvarn: 2.5–4 days

The tour starts at the swimming spot behind the ICA store in Stjärnhov. You paddle along the narrow Lake Naten before gliding into Natån – a mystical and legendary river that winds south like a serpentine path. In the shallow, clear water, you may spot fish swimming right beside your canoe.

When the river flows out, the vast wilderness lake Båven opens up, rich in wildlife and dotted with hundreds of islands. There are plenty of great campsites here – for example in Hornafjärden or the Dagnäsön Nature Reserve. The next day, you continue west, pass the Båven Islands Nature Reserve, then turn south over Gullfjärden to find your next night’s campsite.

The tour continues into Flaksundet and western Båven, past the beautiful Helgesta Church. Here you can choose to paddle inside or outside the island before following Dragsnäsån, Kvarnsjön and Skebokvarnsån all the way to the Canoe Centre.

Paddle from Veckeln to Skebokvarn: 3–4 days

This tour offers several days on the move – but without stress. You paddle through a varied landscape where dense forest meets open fields, with historic castles and vineyards adding beautiful highlights along the way.

From Lake Veckeln, you paddle through several smaller lakes and rivers winding through lush greenery. Along the way, you’ll pass both Hedenlunda Castle and Blacksta Vineyard, with opportunities to explore waterways that offer both tranquility and discovery.

Two to three short portages are included along the route – where you’ll roll your canoe on a trolley between lake systems. The longest portage is about three kilometres on gravel roads and trails, easily managed by most with a few breaks.

Towards the end, you’ll reach Lake Båven, paddling between islands and through bays before returning to the Canoe Centre’s jetty in Skebokvarn via Dragsnäsån and Lake Kvarnsjön.

This tour is for those who want to paddle several days on calm waters, experience nature’s variety, and cover a good stretch of Sörmland – with plenty of great spots to rest, swim and camp along the way. It’s a popular route for experienced paddlers and active families seeking more than just a short trip.

The Round Tour – A varied multi-day tour: 3–6 days

Looking to paddle for several days, experience new waters each day – yet return to where you started? The Round Tour is perfect for those seeking adventure, variety and freedom.

The tour starts at our own jetty in Skebokvarn and takes you straight out into the mystical Skebokvarnsån. You paddle through the narrow Lake Kvarnsjön and further into the winding Dragsnäsån – where you might be lucky enough to spot a beaver!

Soon, the landscape opens up towards the vast wilderness lake Båven, rich in wildlife, islands and mirror-like bays. Along the way, you’ll pass sights such as Kråkholmen Nature Reserve, Hammartorp Castle and the beautiful Helgesta Church. You paddle through dense coniferous and deciduous forests, open fields and sheltered bays – in a landscape that constantly changes.

In total, three portages are included along the way, where you roll your canoe on a trolley between water systems. The first (approx. 800 m) at Sibro leads you to Lake Lidsjön. The second (approx. 400 m) is at Vad to Lake Långhalsen. The third and longest (approx. 3 km) from Tuvekärr to Stäringe Castle is easy to manage along gravel roads and trails – suitable even for families with children.

The final stretch heads north via Uren and Forsaån back to Båven. Here you paddle between islands and through familiar waterways before gliding back into Skebokvarnsån and finishing where it all began.

The Dunkern Tour – Four days of peace, forest and lakes

Looking for a longer paddling tour where you can experience both the tranquility of nature and the feeling of truly getting away? Then the Dunkern Tour is perfect for you. Over four days, you paddle through a landscape of clear lakes, winding rivers and islands perfect for camping and breaks. Old deciduous forest and oak pastures alternate with silent wilderness and open waters.

The tour starts at Lake Dunkern and ends at the Canoe Centre’s jetty in Skebokvarn. Along the way, you’ll experience nature reserves and several great spots to stop for a swim, a meal or a night in a tent. Two short portages are included along the route, making this tour ideal for those seeking variety without too much technical challenge.

Whether you want to take it easy and enjoy every moment – or paddle at a higher pace to explore more of the lake system – both options are possible. This is a tour where each day offers new views, new waters and a chance to fully unwind.

Paddle from Flen to Skebokvarn: 4–5 days

The tour starts in Flen, where you launch your canoe at the eastern end of Lake Gårdsjön and paddle west through a scenic landscape full of variety. You’ll encounter narrow lakes, winding rivers, open bays, and beautiful cultural sites – such as Stenhammar Castle and Hedenlunda Castle along the way.

During the trip, you’ll face three or four short portages where you can easily roll your canoe on the included trolley. There are plenty of rest stops, and you’ll camp overnight at one of the many nature-rich spots along the route.

When you reach Lake Långhalsen, you can choose between two routes:
Either paddle north towards Stäringe Castle, Forsaån and into Lake Båven – a shorter route of about 50 km. Or continue south via Torpfjärden, Husbyån and Lidsjön, before turning north again towards Båven – a longer and more remote stretch of up to 75 km.

Whichever route you choose, the tour ends with us in Skebokvarn – after several days paddling through vibrant landscapes, calm waters and unforgettable experiences.

Paddle from Skebokvarn to Nyköping: 4–5 days

The tour begins gently at the Canoe Centre’s jetty, paddling through Skebokvarnsån and Lake Kvarnsjön – where trees frame the water and the pace naturally slows. Soon, you continue through Dragsnäsån and out into the island-rich wilderness lake Båven, abundant with wildlife and wide views.

Along the way, you’ll pass well-known landmarks like Kråkholmen Nature Reserve, Hammartorp Castle and Helgesta Church. This is a journey through living landscapes – from dense forests to open fields, from silent greenery to sparkling bays. There are plenty of spots to rest, swim and camp under the Right of Public Access.

Further south, you paddle through Torpfjärden and Mählsundet, past Tärnö Manor. If you want a break for ice cream or supplies, there’s a short detour to Vrena.

Three portages are made along the way – at Sibro (approx. 800 m), Vad (approx. 400 m) and Kristineholm (approx. 100 m) – all easy to manage with a canoe trolley. The last kilometres take you along Nyköpingsån, where the water narrows and calms. You finish the tour in Harg, with a feeling of having traveled through both nature and history.

The Nyköping Tour is a slow adventure – paddling through Sörmland’s lake system at your own pace.

The Katrineholm Tour is a calm and beautiful week-long journey suitable for experienced paddlers and those wanting to paddle at a relaxed pace without stress. The tour starts in Katrineholm and ends at our jetty in Skebokvarn, covering approximately 70–85 km depending on your chosen route.

You paddle through narrow lakes, winding rivers, and past castles, open fields, and forested shores. Along the way, you’ll pass Eriksberg Castle and Åkerö Castle – beautiful spots to rest and perhaps take a walk. About halfway, there’s also an opportunity to refill water and supplies in Vrena, a small village with a shop and great ice cream.

The tour includes five or six portages, where you can easily roll your canoe on a trolley between lake systems. The water is calm throughout, and the landscape shifts between dense forest, open cultural landscapes, and quiet bays. Overnight stays are based on the Right of Public Access – with many lovely spots for camping and evening swims.

Paddle from Ändebol to Skebokvarn: 10 days

This tour is for those who want paddling as a lifestyle for the next ten days – gliding between lakes and rivers, camping at suitable spots along the way, and following the water all the way from Ändebol to Skebokvarn.

You will paddle through narrow lakes, winding rivers and some larger waters, surrounded by deciduous forest, coniferous forest and open fields. Along the way, you pass several historic sites such as Beckershov Castle, Eriksberg Castle and Åkerö Castle. About halfway, there’s an opportunity to stop at Katrineholm Camping for a break with showers and refreshments, and later at the shop in Vrena to restock food and water.

The tour includes nine or ten portages depending on route – all requiring a canoe trolley. The water is calm and suited for those who want a slow pace and plenty of time to enjoy nature. Rest areas, swimming bays and camping spots are available along the entire route.
